LIKES: When she wants to kick back and relax on her own, Summer enjoys taking out her nail painting supplies and trying out designs on fake nails that she may or may not end up wearing. Sometimes she will give finished sets to friends and cousins as celebration gifts. Her favorite animal is of course a dog, and she has a preference for labadors and golden retrievers as they are the dogs she has spend so much of her life around. Being able to play with the puppies are one of the biggest perks of being a Dog Breeder, but she enjoys them at all stages of their life span like laying in front of the fire with the older dogs at the end of the day, just quietly reading a book. her favorite place to hang out is at the beach, preferably with lots of people to hang around with.

DISLIKES:  When she was a really little girl, Summer had been given chocolate as a treat from her teacher that she took home. She had never been allowed such a thing, as her parents never kept any around so that the dogs would not come chocolate by accident. At one point she lost the chocolate and one of the older labs ate it. Marybeth, one of the oldest girls on the farm, had swallowed it and gotten very sick. Summer was so terrified that she swore off chocolate if Marybeth ever got better, which thankfully, she did. Housecleaning is way too time-consuming, it never....ever... seems to end for the girl whose house is always bursting with canines.

PERSONALITY: Maybe it is because she has lived around dogs all of the time, but she has alot of 'doglike' persoanlity traits, like always being really happy and openly affectionate as well as playful. She has a very 'hands on' approach with close friends like hugging them, nuzzling their cheek or the side of their neck, and even pecks on the nose. Many times, people she knows have to remind her that they are people and not one of her canine companions.

PERSONAL MOTTO: "No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich" - Louis Sabin

GENERAL BACKGROUND: The Hughes Dog Farm is a multi-generation family run business, and it was Summer's great-grandfather who started it all. Out in the county, on a very large property of land, dozens of pure bred dogs are born and raised for a number of occupations. From show dogs to search and rescue dogs, from compassion care canines to hunters, Hughes Farms can offer it all. Several members of the Hughes train the various litters of pups to become contributing members of a community and/or an adoptive household. Like her father, Summer has come to train the dogs she is charged with to compete in dog shows. This often brings in additional revenue for the farm and means that she can keep several of them for herself. In her book, this is a win-win situation. Of course, there is a draw back. Summer often spends more time with her dogs than she does with people and it often shows through her discomfort of one on one human interactions. When she comes across someone that she really likes, she does not know what to do with herself, and becomes very awkward. If only people could understand her like dogs seem to!
